Your privacy in Kur8

Draft for review by a qualified UK solicitor, and for testing with young people aged 13 to 17.

This is for you if a parent or carer set Kur8 up on your phone. It explains, in plain words, what Kur8 keeps and who can see it.

What Kur8 does

Kur8 opens Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, X and Snapchat inside one app. It hides the kinds of posts that were switched off, counts your time, and pauses an app when you've used your time for the day.

If your parent turns on the camera and microphone, you can film stories and snaps in Kur8. What you film goes straight to that app. Kur8 never sees, hears or keeps it.

What your parent can see

Your parent can open a summary on this phone with their PIN. It shows totals, such as:

What your parent can't see

Kur8 doesn't keep any of this, so nobody can see it through Kur8. You sign in to each app on its own page, and Kur8 never sees or keeps those passwords. You don't have a Kur8 account: your parent's account looks after Kur8 on this phone.

Where your information goes

Everything Kur8 keeps about what you do stays on this phone, and old totals are deleted after 14 days. The company that makes Kur8 can't see any of it. Nothing is used for adverts, and nothing is sold.

The only things that leave this phone are two random codes: one that links your Kur8 to your parent's account, and one for this phone, so your parent's subscription covers it. They don't say anything about you or what you do, and they don't include your name.

Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, X and Snapchat still see what you do on their sites, as they would in any app or browser. Kur8 doesn't change that.

Kur8 always tells you

You'll always see a note on your Today screen saying a parent set Kur8 up. Your parent can't switch this off. If anything about what Kur8 keeps ever changes, you'll be told first.
